DC to Annapolis, Done Right

Annapolis is one of the easiest day trips from Washington — until parking, the Severn River bridge, and a tight event schedule turn it into a stressful drive. Our DC to Annapolis car service handles the 33-mile run along US-50 East with the same discipline we bring to a Reagan or Dulles transfer: tracked pickup, live traffic, and a chauffeur who knows the city's rhythm.

Whether you're heading to U.S. Naval Academy for Parents Weekend or Commissioning Week, dropping into the State House for a Maryland General Assembly hearing, boarding a boat in Eastport, or just escaping town for a long lunch at the City Dock, we tailor the ride to the occasion. Sedan for the executive day, SUV for the family weekend, Sprinter when the whole group rolls together.

This is the same approach we use across the DMV: refined service, transparent pricing, and a local team that knows the area cold. No surge, no surprises — just a chauffeur waiting where they said they'd be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Annapolis runs we get asked about most often

How long does the drive from DC to Annapolis take?

Plan on 45 to 60 minutes door to door for the 33-mile run along US-50 East. We watch live traffic before pickup and adjust the route in real time — Route 50 East at the Severn River and Route 450 backups are the two pinch points we plan around. For an event with a hard start (a USNA parade, a wedding, an MD State House hearing), we recommend a 75-minute buffer from your DC pickup to your Annapolis arrival.

Can you drop us off inside the U.S. Naval Academy?

We coordinate USNA Yard access for Parents Weekend, Commissioning Week, plebe drop-off, and home football games. Public vehicle access runs through Gate 1 (Visitor Center) with a valid ID; we know the queue patterns by event and stage the vehicle appropriately. For credentialed events we will work with your sponsor's instructions. If access is restricted to the Yard, we drop at the closest external gate so you walk in fresh, not after parking three blocks away.

Do you handle sailing weekends and regattas?

Yes. Eastport, Annapolis Yacht Club, City Dock, and Spa Creek are all standard drops for us during regatta weekends. Our SUVs and Sprinters fit duffels, sail bags, foul-weather gear, and the cooler. We can also handle a one-way drop, a wait-and-return for a half-day on the water, or an hourly charter if you're moving between marinas and dinner downtown.

What does this cost compared to driving and parking ourselves?

An Executive Sedan starts at $185, a Premium SUV at $225, and a Sprinter Van at $295 — flat, all-in pricing with gratuity included, no surge. Downtown Annapolis parking on an event weekend runs $25 to $45 per day at the Hillman Garage or Noah Hillman, plus the walk back to City Dock. For a couple, the math is closer than it looks; for a group of three or more, we are routinely the better deal once you factor in driving the Bay Bridge after dinner.

Can you continue past Annapolis to the Eastern Shore?

Often, yes — Bay Bridge into St. Michaels, Easton, Tilghman, or Rehoboth is one of our most popular long-day runs. We price it as a one-way to the Shore or as an hourly charter with stops (lunch at the Inn at Perry Cabin, an afternoon at the wineries, dinner in St. Michaels). Bay Bridge tolls and any ferry are included in the quote.

Do you do day trips for government and lobbyist meetings at the State House?

Yes. We run several MD State House sessions a week during the Maryland General Assembly. Standard pattern is a morning DC pickup, drop at the Lawyer's Mall or Bladen Street entrance, wait or release, and a late afternoon return. Hourly charter usually makes sense when you have multiple stops or an evening reception; one-way pairs work well when the schedule is firm.

How early should I book?

USNA Parents Weekend, Commissioning Week (late May), Croquet Match, the Annapolis Boat Shows (April and October), and Naval Academy home football weekends fill us up two to four weeks ahead. State Capitol session days fill faster on the day of. For everything else, 48 to 72 hours is comfortable. Same-day works when we have a vehicle available — call us and we will tell you straight.

What Annapolis Clients Say

"Used DMBJ for our son's Plebe Parents Weekend at USNA. The driver knew exactly which gate, exactly when to drop, and circled back without us texting. Zero stress on a day that's already emotional. Booking the round trip back to DC after the parade was the smartest thing we did."

— Sarah K., Chevy Chase

"Three of us had a hearing at the MD State House and a dinner in Eastport that evening. DMBJ ran the whole day as an hourly charter — Annapolis by 8, back to State Circle for a 3 PM, dinner reservation in Eastport, home to DC by 10. Beats driving, parking, and worrying about wine with dinner."

— Marcus T., Capitol Hill
